Introduction
To strengthen the federal governance system, the Executive Council of Madhesh University established the “Institute of Federalism” on July 29, 2024 (2081 Sawan 14). This institute operates under the jurisdiction of Madhesh University and aims to explore various facets of federalism through study, research, and teaching. The establishment was approved by the university assembly on September 28, 2024 (2081 Ashwin 12).
Jurisdiction of the Institute
The institute’s jurisdiction includes:
1. Conducting studies, research, and teaching on federalism, the rule of law, and intergovernmental relations.
2. Conducting research and facilitating discussions on federalism and economic matters.
3. Organizing discussions, meetings, and workshops on contemporary political and economic issues related to federalism, inclusion, and development.
4. Collaborating with federal, provincial, and local governments, the private sector, NGOs/INGOs, universities, and research institutions to conduct studies, training, workshops, and seminars while adhering to existing laws.
